Phil is one of the founding members of Anchorage and together with Daniel Wong has been investing in operational turnarounds for over 20 years, prior to the establishment of Anchorage. He is currently Chairman of Bisalloy Steel Group and Solgen Energy Group, and is a Director of Acrow Formwork and Scaffolding and Contract Resources as well as a member of the Contract Resources Turnaround Committee. Previously Phil was Chairman of Dick Smith and a Director of First Engineering, Total Eden and Burger King NZ. Phil also sits on Anchorage’s Investment Committee.
Phil has a track record of over 20 years of successful turnaround investments in the Australasian region, commencing in the 1980's with investments in Sunbeam, Victa and Wormald Ltd through his listed vehicle Reil Corporation, and more recently PayConnect Solutions (now ADP), Atlas Group, Smart Salary and Omni Plastics Group through his boutique investment house, Minstar Capital (formerly Interbank Capital Partners). Prior to embarking on his turnaround investment path, Phil was an Executive Director of Macquarie Bank.
Phil was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2007 for services to the community, particularly support services to children and young adults with disabilities, and to business as a company director. He is currently Chairman of the not-for-profit organisations Ability First Australia and Excelsia College (Formerly Wesley Institute).
Phil holds a Bachelor of Business (Commerce) from The New South Wales Institute of Technology and is a Fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants (FCPA).
